From Jesus’ New Commandment to Peace

Jesus is the Living Bread that descends from Above to feed human and spiritual creatures, since death is not the interruption of Life. He said:

“I am the Living Bread that came down from Heaven. Whoever eats of this bread, will live forever” (The Gospel of the Ecumenical Christ according to John 6:51).

The Holy Bible, understood and experienced in Spirit and Truth under the light of the Ecumenical Christ’s New Commandment, is the table of plenty from which, under the auspices of Divine Love, all of us may nourish ourselves:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne of glory. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches of the Lord” (The Apocalypse of Jesus according to John 3:20-22 – Letter to the Church in Laodicea).

The perfect rule for study and practice, which averts hate and fanaticism when interpreting the Biblical Scriptures, is, we say again, the New Commandment of the Divine Lord, the Supreme Order of God, the Universal Science of the Ecumenical Christ:

“Love one another as I have loved you. Only by this shall all of you be recognized as my disciples” (The Gospel according to John 13:34 and 35, Jerusalem Bible).

Sérgio Vieira de Mello

There are some who think, as if it were a fatalism attributed by them in disapproval of the mystics, that war is inseparable from Human Beings and without which there is no other possibility of rapid progress. Naturally, they find themselves deceived. Perhaps for now they lack the resolve to oppose all obstacles and battle fearlessly for more peaceful times. This requires a strong dose of daring: to act against what certain ruinous “millenary customs” have “decided” to be the ineluctable path for the masses. However there are many who possess this fearlessness. Sérgio Vieira de Mello (1948-2003), a Brazilian diplomat killed during a UN peace mission to Iraq, was one of them. I am not saying that the murderous instinct will suddenly disappear from the face of the planet, save that a Will superior to ours shall exert: God’s will. However, I do not accept radical models, classified as irremovable realism, which paralyze society. Let us say, for the sake of argument, that if war does come we would have to face it with all the necessary courage. Do not think of running away from anything. However, one day, Fraternity and Justice will change for the better the unequal destinies of individuals, families and nations.
When creatures become purified, everything changes around them.

Divine Message

I therefore emphasize at the end of this page the Divine Message from a Lord eternally concerned about the well-being of people: “My Peace I leave with you, my Peace I give unto you. I do not give you the peace of the world. I give you the Peace of God that the world cannot give. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. For I will be with you, each and every day, until the end of the world!” (The Gospel of Jesus according to John 14:27 and 1; and Matthew 28:20).

Nevertheless, He, with the supreme worth that we all know, did not allow himself to let go of the scourge in order to repel the merchants from the magnificent Temple of Jerusalem (The Gospel according to John 2:15).

José de Paiva Netto (1941-2025), a writer, journalist, radio broadcaster, educator, composer, poet, the President Emeritus and Consolidator of the Legion of Good Will, and Spiritual Leader of the Religion of God, of the Christ, and of the Holy Spirit. He was an effective member of the Brazilian Press Association (ABI) and the Brazilian International Press Association (ABI-Inter), a member of the National Federation of Journalists (FENAJ), the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Union of Writers of Rio de Janeiro, the Radio Broadcasters Union of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Union of Composers (UBC), and the Academy of Letters of Central Brazil. He became an internationally recognized author in the defense of human rights and in his concepts of Ecumenical Citizenship and Ecumenical Spirituality, which, in his own words, represent “the cradle of the most generous values that are born of the Soul, the dwelling of emotions and of reasoning enlightened by intuition; the atmosphere that embraces everything that transcends the ordinary field of matter and comes from elevated human sensitivity, such as Truth, Justice, Mercy, Ethics, Honesty, Generosity, and Fraternal Love. In short, the mathematical constant that harmonizes the equation of spiritual, moral, mental, and human existence. Now, without the understanding that we exist on two planes―not only on the physical plane―it will be difficult to build a Society that is truly Ecumenical, Altruistic, and Solidary, since we would still be ignoring that the knowledge of Superior Spirituality elevates the character of creatures and, consequently, leads to the construction of the Planetary Citizenship.”
